Remove the White Patches on Your Skin (Vitiligo)

Vitiligo is the medical term for white patches which appear all over the body. There are various causes which lead to its appearance, the major one being an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the skin cells producing melanin. Other causes include genetic predisposition, extreme stress, topical fungal infections such as tinea versicolor, eczema, psoriasis, vitamin B12 deficiency and overexposure to sun rays.

People with vitiligo often feel more self-conscious and less confident. These natural remedies are quite beneficial for this skin condition.


Copper
This mineral is essential for melanin production. Pour some water in a copper vessel and leave it overnight at a room temperature. Drink the water on an empty stomach every morning as it will contain copper irons released by the vessel and these stimulate melanin production.

Coconut oil
It’s highly beneficial for chronic inflammation and it stimulates skin re-pigmentation. Plus, it’s has antibacterial and antifungal properties. For a few weeks apply some coconut oil on the affected skin 2 or 3 times a day.

Ginkgo Bilboa
It’s known for its antioxidant and immunomodulatory properties which can diminish the progress of vitiligo and can stimulate re-pigmentation. The recommended dose is between 40-80 mg three times a day;still consult your doctor to determine the dosage.

Turmeric
It’s highly beneficial when combined with mustard oil. Mix 5 tsp of the powder with 250 ml or 1 cup of mustard oil and apply it on the depigmented area. Do this twice a day for a year. You can also make a paste of turmeric powder and neem leaves.

Neem
When consumed, it is an efficient blood cleaner and immune booster. It can also be used topically – mix crushed neem leaves and buttermilk to make a paste and apply it on the discolored skin leaving it until it dries completely. Wash it off, repeating this for a couple of weeks. You can also apply some diluted neem oil on the affected skin every day, or you can mix it with 1 tsp of coconut oil, or some other oil. Plus, you can drink neem juice every day for a couple of months or eat some neem leaves before meals 3 times a day.

Babchi/Psoraleacorylifolia
Steep the seeds in ginger juice for 3 days changing the juice every day. Take out the husks by rubbing them between your hands, dry them in the sun and then grind them to a fine powder; take 1 gr or 1/2 tsp. with a glass of milk every day for 40 days. You can also apply babchi oil on the affected skin exposing it to sunlight for 15 minutes – it’s recommended to start with short sun exposure to see if the response is favorable.You can combine babchiwith black seed oil too.

Red clay
It’s abundant in copper, which stimulates skin pigment restoration. In equal ratio mix ginger juice and red clay and apply it on the affected skin. Leave it to completely dry before washing it off.Repeat this for a couple of months.

Ginger
It stimulates blood circulation and melanin production. Apply a few slices of fresh ginger on your skin leaving it until it dries. Do this 1-2 times a day for a couple of weeks. Or, mix the juice from a bigger ginger root with fresh mint leaves and drink it every day for a few weeks.

Radish seeds
Make a paste by grinding 25 grams of the seeds into a fine powder and mixing it with 2 tsp of vinegar. Leave the paste on the discolored skin for half an hour before rinsing it with lukewarm water. Do this every day for a few months.

Apple cider vinegar
It’s highly beneficial in fighting the fungi which cause the white patches. It also neutralizes low stomach acid related to vitiligo. In equal amounts, mix water and apple cedar vinegar. Apply this on the depigmented skin 2 times a day for a month. Or, drink a glass of water with 1 tbsp. of vinegar every day before meals.

Besides, you ought to pay attention to your diet and cut out berries which have natural depigmentation properties.Instead, include foods packed with vitamin B12 such as spinach, dried beans, chickpeas, cabbage, walnuts, dried figs, as well as foods rich in folic acid and zinc. You should also avoid red meat and seafood.
