The effects of purple corn anthocyanins are compared to anthocyanins from different plant types, including grapes, radishes, purple carrots and elder berries.

Researchers from Doshisha University in Japan found that anthocyanidin C3G found in the purple corn prevented obesity in mice. Therefore, they hope that it will have similar effect on humans as well.

The powerful anti-inflammatory properties of purple corn have been supported by a research conducted at Tokai Gakuen University in Japan. This anti-inflammatory effect is due to the anthocyanidin C3G.
