Sleeping for More Than Eight Hours Could Kill You
The ideal sleeping time is set at eight hours, but many people don’t get enough sleep every night. On the other hand, there are people who have the luxury of sleeping for more than the recommended eight hours. If you are one of those people, it’s time to change your sleeping schedule.
A study of 10,000 participants conducted by the University of Cambridge shown that those who sleep for more than eight hours have a higher chance of suffering from strokes. Those who surpass the recommended hours of sleep have a 46 percent chance of getting a stroke than those who sleep for six to eight hours every night. Meanwhile, those who sleep for only six hours or less have an 18 percent chance of getting a stroke. This risk is doubled in older women.
Previous studies have shown that lack of enough sleep leads to metabolic disruptions and an increase in stress hormone (cortisol) levels. This will ultimately lead to stroke, high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases.
Now,the new studies have proved that excessive sleep is much worse and is even an early indicator of stroke for those who are older. Stroke is the 3rd largest killer in the world next to cancer and heart diseases and can happen to anyone.
