Natural Rose Leaves Beverages for Your Health

Rose, also known as the Queen of Flowers, is loved for their beauty and fragrance. For years, they have been used by the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, and many other civilizations, until today. These flowers are also known to be a symbol of love and commonly seen as a Valentines Day symbol.

Apart from its beauty, this flower has many health benefits. It is easily grown and resistant to various climate conditions.


Roses are rich in vitamins A, C, B3, E and F. Roses leaves contain rich amount of essential oils which are used for many purposes. The smell of roses has positive effect on your mood, and the compound contained in the leaves protect the heart and nerves.

Rose tea has a calming effect and purifies the blood. Rose can be used in the treatment of rheumatism, sore throat, headache, dizziness, liver cleansing, jaundice, restores flora after antibiotic therapy. It is a great natural remedy for menstrual problems, such as heavy monthly bleeding. Rose petals can be used for making syrup.

The blooming of roses start in late May and the seeds mature in August.

After they are harvested, they should be cleaned of insects and the flower petals should be dried in a warm, dry and dark place. The process of drying can last up to a week, but in order to preserve the freshness, quality and aroma, it is recommended to keep them in closed glass jar in a dry and dark place.

However, rose tea is not recommended for patients with kidney stones and gall bladder. Similar is the case with pregnant women. They should not consume this tea without previous consultation with their doctor.

People who are too sensitive should be cautious when consuming this tea because there can be some unwanted consequences such as belching, wheezing, or nausea. If you experience something similar, you should immediately stop drinking the tea.

Essential rose oil is one of the most commonly used oils in cosmetics and perfumes. It is recommended for face and skin care, especially if you have sensitive or dry skin. Moreover, it can slow down the aging process of the skin.

This oil is very expensive because its production is really hard and time-consuming. Around 3000kg of flower-petals are needed for producing just one liter of this oil. Fortunately, rose oil is highly concentrated so just a small amount of it is sufficient in aromatherapy and in manufacture of perfumes. Rose oil has anti-depressive and aphrodisiac properties.

Rose water is produced by steam distillation of rose and it has powerful anti-acne effect on the face. It also has antiseptic and calming properties.

People suffering from rheumatism should use rose baths.

Aromatic beverages
  • Rose petals syrup
  • ½ liters of water
  • Two handfuls of rose leaves

Boil the water and pour it over the rose petals. Let the mixture stay for 24 hours. Afterwards, strain the mixture and boil the remaining liquid with 250 grams of sugar. Before the end, add juice made of one lemon and boil it for another 5 minutes. This syrup helps with the pain in your airways.

The recommendable dose for this syrup is two to four tablespoons of this remedy on a daily basis.


Rose petals tea
  • 2 tablespoons of dried and crushed petals
  • 3 dl water

Pour the rose petals with 3 dl boiling of boiling water and leave the mixture stand from 5 to 10 minutes in covered container. Finally, strain the mixture and add some honey if you wish to sweeten the tea. For better taste, choose petals with stronger smell and not completely dry.
